In 2017, Staycation ventured into the local tourism sector, offering Parisians the opportunity to rediscover their city for a weekend by occupying unsold hotel rooms in their neighborhoods. As CTO, Pierrick established the entire reservation infrastructure and web &amp; mobile applications. Arthur developed the mobile app. By making use of hotel facilities (pool, spa, restaurant) and creating tailor-made experiences for its customers (mixology classes, horseback riding, massages), Staycation quickly became a popular brand among city dwellers throughout France.<h2>Challenges</h2>The initial Staycation platform did not allow multi-day bookings, so upon Pierrick's arrival, he had to rebuild the web application from scratch to enable the company to expand more widely.Once the platform's success was well-established, two strategic priorities emerged: handling high traffic (5,000+ users, and up to 35,000) and ensuring optimal search engine rankings.Finally, as Staycation became a significant player in luxury hospitality, the need for automated availability management required backend integration with hotel infrastructures (channel managers).In parallel, the role of the CTO demanded strong interpersonal skills to manage the tech team and coordinate various departments (product, design, marketing, sales).As Staycation was a self-funded startup and the tech job market was extremely competitive, recruitment was a significant part of the CTO's responsibilities. Pragmatism, technical expertise, and execution speed were essential values to deliver product iterations rapidly, with a high level of quality, all geared towards the company's development.<h2>Features and Technology</h2>🏨️ Reservation system (cart, payment) and real-time availability management: as inventory was very limited, overbooking was not an option🔍️ SEO and search engine optimization: 30% organic traffic🏋️ Load management: up to 35,000 simultaneous users eagerly awaited the weekly sales opening every Wednesday morning🔗️ Interface with hotel infrastructures for availability management✏️ Content creation optimization to minimize manual tasks for the marketing team<ul><li>The web application is developed in React, Typescript, Redux.</li><li>The mobile application is entirely built in React Native, allowing deployment on iOS and Android with a single codebase.</li><li>It relies on a Scala Play2! Trace for Good

Limbo Studio collaborated with the young startup Trace for Good on migrating from a no-code application to a React + Node application in just a few weeks.<h2>Challenges</h2>Trace for Good's mission is to streamline supply chain traceability for retail players (textile, leather goods, etc.). The technical challenges are quite complex, as the product needs to handle the complex data models of their clients' catalogs and coordinate communication with their suppliers while maintaining the simplest and clearest interface for its users.The company had internally developed a product based on a no-code solution (using Bubble), which had its limitations: performance issues, inability to build certain features, diminished velocity.The challenge was to migrate from this no-code solution to an in-house application as quickly as possible, as the company needed to continue rapidly evolving its product.<h2>Features and Technology</h2>🧱 Importing clients' product catalogs🔍 Clear presentation of traceability data📬 Automated supplier communication and traceability forms<ul><li>The application was designed in React + Vite with a Node + Prisma API, allowing rapid iterations and using common, simple technologies for ease of future code takeover by an in-house development team.</li><li>Emphasis was placed on the need for a simple, robust, and scalable Data Model. We started with the current product needs and compared a first version to possible product evolutions to achieve a simple, pragmatic version ready for the future.</li></ul><h2>Result</h2>In two months, Pierrick and Arthur:<ul><li>Designed, implemented, and delivered the new version, ensuring a smooth migration</li><li>Challenged and co-imagined a new version of the traceability flow, a core feature of the application</li><li>Guided Trace for Good on their short and medium-term development and tech team needs.</li></ul>

Migrating from a No-Code MVP to a Growth-Ready App

Within the French unicorn company, Alan, as a Team Lead, Arthur led the Alan Mind team (15 members), a digital mental health solution for individuals and businesses. Pierrick was a senior developer on the project and was able to develop a personalized content module (text, video, audio) for users in just a few weeks.<h2>Challenges</h2>The project began following Alan's acquisition of Jour, a mobile journaling application.The challenge was to transform it into a holistic mental health solution, including content, exercises, journaling, mental health assessment, and connection with therapists chosen by Alan. We developed the initial version of Horoview's watch ad aggregation website in just one month.BackgroundHoroview aggregates watch sale ads available on dozens of platforms.The Horoview team reached out to us via Collective to execute the development of the site.After creating the mockups, they were in search of a development collective to ensure a fast delivery, aiming to get the first version online quickly.Since the ad scraping had already been set up, our role was to:<ul><li>Integrate into the existing database of scraped ads</li><li>Define the data model and application architecture to develop the expected features (full-text search, filters, statistics) in a simple, efficient, and pragmatic manner to meet the expected deadlines</li><li>Integrate the mockups in a responsive manner</li></ul>Technology<ul><li>We chose to build the site with Next.js to take advantage of both the development experience (rapid iterations, infrastructure managed by Vercel in one click) and server-side rendering to meet SEO requirements.</li><li>The newly scraped ad data is copied, filtered, and formatted several times a day into a Postgres database that powers the site. ContextAt Alan, we are all FullStack engineers. However, we don't all have the same front-end experiences, whether it's about best practices or design inclination.So, how do we continue delivering the highest quality software and elevate the designers' work in such a dynamic and vibrant company like Alan? The answer is the Design System, of course ;)The MissionStarting with a comprehensive yet technically challenged component library (graphical inconsistencies, bugs, duplicate use cases), we, in collaboration with the Design team, implemented the following strategy:<ul><li>Definition of the Design System as a whole: principles, components, atoms, foundations, core components, design tokens</li><li>Refactoring of the component library:<ul><li>Sharing interfaces (Typescript) between React and React Native libraries to ensure a consistent practice on both mobile and web</li><li>Sorting components and migrating the codebase to establish a unified relationship between UX usage and a component</li></ul></li><li>Implementation of documentation using Storybook</li><li>Creation and implementation of design tokens (colors, sizes) to ensure maximum consistency in size and margin management</li><li>Implementation of linting rules (ESLint) to guide the 80 developers toward best practices</li><li>Implementation of high-level design principles (UI Engineering Principles)</li><li>Formation and management of a team of willing developers to evolve the Design System over the long term</li><li>Study and implementation of the best styling solution for our needs</li></ul>The major challenge of a project like this was that it was necessary to make all these changes without impacting the work of the 80 developers working on the same repository.We established a precise action plan to ensure that the impact of the various migrations did not disrupt other teams, particularly through the creation of "progressive" linting rules:<ul><li>If a line of code doesn't comply with the rule but has never been touched, the linter remains silent</li><li>If a developer touches the line in question, then they must correct the linter error</li></ul>As a result, we managed to bring about graphical consistency in record time by involving all developers in making micro-changes over several months.Today, Alan's Design System is a cornerstone of its visual identity and the efficiency of its teams.<div class="image-container"><div class="image-row-wrapper"><div class="image-wrapper"><img src="https://cdn.collective.work/cla2iyefv0f8i70f276h39oli.png"><div class="image-overlay"></div></div></div></div>
